A second Bear Trap was introduced for each alliance
Alliance Rewards were removed
Personal Rewards were increased

5 | 300 | +25% |
📅 April 27, 2025 Update:
Arrowhead costs were reduced to make it easier to upgrade both traps
🔁 Important Notes:
Enhancements reset after each hunt
Each trap has its own separate enhancement progress
You keep your Arrowheads if you dismantle a trap
You earn 200 Alliance Tokens per Arrowhead donated
You can still donate at max level to earn Tokens—but excess won't carry over

🧊 Bear Trap Troop Formation: 1/1/8
This refers to the troop ratio when sending troops into the Bear rally:
✅ 1 Infantry / 1 Lancer / 8 Marksmen
In percentages, that's:
10% Infantry
10% Lancers
80% Marksmen
🔍 Why Use 1/1/8?
This is a min-max optimization strategy:
⚔️ Marksmen deal the most damage
Marksmen generally scale better with damage buffs.
Many top-performing combat heroes (e.g. Jessie, Molly, Bahiti) are Marksmen with powerful offensive skills.
The Bear does not attack back — so you don't need much survivability from Infantry or Lancers.
🧠 Still triggers all hero Expedition Skills
You need at least 1 of each troop type to activate all 3 hero Expedition Skills as rally leader.
By sending a small number of Infantry and Lancers (just enough to activate skills), you still gain the full buff effect.
📈 Maximizes total damage output
Focuses troop count on the highest damage-dealing unit type (Marksmen)
Ensures all skills activate, no buffs wasted, and max DPS achieved
🧙 When To Use 1/1/8
Role | Use 1/1/8 Formation? |
---|---|
Rally Leader | ✅ Yes |
Joiner | ❌ No – use 100% of matching troop type |
⚠️ Important: If you're a joiner, don’t use 1/1/8. Use 100% of the troop type that matches your first hero (e.g., 100% Marksmen if using Jessie).
🐻 How to Maximize Bear Damage in Whiteout Survival
If you want to consistently hit high numbers in Bear Trap rallies—whether leading or joining—there are a number of strategies to optimize your setup. This guide breaks it down step-by-step for both individual and alliance performance.
🏹 Understanding Bear Rallies
Bear Rallies operate much like rallies against Sunfire Castle, facilities, or enemy cities—with one key difference: the Bear doesn’t fight back. That means your entire focus should be on maximizing offensive output.
🎯 Leading a Rally: The Right Way
If you start a rally, you're the rally leader, and your setup determines the overall damage output. Here’s what that role demands:
✅ Rally Leader Rules:
All 3 of your heroes contribute all of their Expedition Skills.
That’s up to 9 skills total if all are Mythic.Use top-tier combat heroes with:
High star levels
Leveled-up Expedition Skills
Strong Attack and Lethality buffs
Example: I currently run Flint, Molly, and Bahiti for a total of 8 active Expedition skills.
🚫 Rally Leader Mistakes to Avoid:
Using non-combat heroes (e.g., Gina)
Using low-star or blue-rarity heroes
Leaving heroes unequipped or unskilled
Doing any of these significantly lowers the rally’s overall damage.
🔧 How to Boost Rally Leader Bonuses
🧝♂️ Heroes:
Prioritize newer-gen Mythic heroes, but sometimes an older-gen hero with better gear or stars is stronger.
Aim for balanced teams: 1 Infantry, 1 Lancer, 1 Marksman.
🛡️ Hero Gear:
Use Mythic gear, ideally forged for higher stats.
Focus first on Headgear and Boots for their Lethality bonus.
Equip Exclusive Hero Gear for big Lethality boosts.
📍 Unlock Hero Gear at Furnace Level 15.
🧢 Chief Gear & Charms:
Boosts Troop Attack, Defense, Lethality, and Health.
High rarity = bigger bonuses.
📍 Chief Gear unlocks at Level 22. Chief Charms at Level 26.
🐾 Pets:
Add Attack, Defense, Lethality, and Health buffs via leveling and refining.
Focus on pets that boost your strongest heroes.
📍 Unlock at Furnace Level 18 (if server is older than 60 days).
🌲 Daybreak Island:
Tree of Life: +Troop Attack and Lethality at levels 5 and 10.
Certain buildings also boost troop stats.
📍 Unlock at Furnace Level 19.
🔬 Technology:
Upgrade Battle Branch and Alliance Tech for better rally output.
🏯 Facilities:
Holding multiple facilities of different levels stacks Troop Attack bonuses.
🎁 City Buffs:
Temporary Troop Attack and Lethality boosts.
Costly in gems—use strategically, not every rally.
🎖️ VIP Perks:
VIP 12 gives strong permanent buffs.
Jeronimo: Even unused, his Natural Leader passive gives +15% Lethality and Health to all troops.
Natalia: As of July 2024, she now grants up to 10% Troop Attack & Defense via her star level passive skill.
🏰 Skins:
City skins: +2% Troop Attack
Teleport skins: +2% Troop Lethality
These bonuses stack—collect as many as you can!
🤝 Joining a Rally: What Really Matters
If you're joining, the game works differently. You contribute only one Expedition Skill: the first skill of the first hero in your march.
✅ Nothing else matters:
Hero Gear: ❌
Chief Gear/Charm: ❌
Pet Buffs: ❌
Minister Buffs: ❌
🧠 Tip: Only the top 4 joiners contribute skill buffs. After that, higher skill level can overwrite lower ones.
⚠️ What Can Go Wrong?
If someone joins early with the wrong hero, but their Expedition skill is maxed (Level 5), it locks in a bad buff. This can only be fixed by removing that player from the rally.
⭐ Skill Levels by Star:
0★ = Level 1 skill
1★ = Level 2
2★ = Level 3
3★ = Level 4
4★ = Level 5
5★ = Level 5
🏅 Best Hero to Join With:
Jessie – Her first Expedition skill gives a flat 25% damage increase to all troops at Level 5.
🧠 Pro Tip: Set up troop formations in advance of the Bear Hunt event to save time and prevent mistakes.
Bear Trap/Bear Hunt Rally Heroes and Troop Formations for each Hero Generation
Step into the wild with confidence using this comprehensive guide to bear hunting traps, expertly crafted by legendary hunters King and Zilee (Huge Props Guys!). Packed with detailed strategies, practical tips, and insider tactics, this guide is your essential resource for taking on even the most formidable bears. Whether you're a new recruit or a seasoned chief, you’ll learn the optimal hero and troop formations needed to effectively track, trap, and defeat your prey.
Generation 1 (Gen 1) Bear Trap Setup
Primary Rally Team:
Heroes: Jeronimo, Molly, Bahiti
Troop Formation: 3 Infantry / 3 Lancer / 4 Marksman
Strategy: Jeronimo’s strong base stats often give you the highest power in Infantry. A balanced formation with a slight edge toward Marksmen generally yields the best results.
Alternative Gen 1 Rally:
Heroes: Natalia, Molly, Bahiti
Troop Formation: 2 Infantry / 4 Lancer / 4 Marksman
Strategy: Ideal for players who haven’t unlocked Jeronimo. Keeps Jero available for rally joining, while still leveraging strong synergy between Molly and Bahiti.
F2P Gen 1 Rally:
Heroes: Sergey, Molly, Bahiti
Troop Formation: 3 Infantry / 3 Lancer / 4 Marksman
Strategy: For free-to-play players, always use your top three available heroes. In Gen 1, Sergey provides solid value alongside Molly and Bahiti. Keep a balanced formation, leaning slightly toward Marksmen.
Generation 2 (Gen 2) Bear Trap Setup
Primary Rally Team:
Heroes: Jeronimo, Philly, Alonso
Troop Formation: 2 Infantry / 3 Lancer / 5 Marksman
Strategy: Alonso significantly boosts damage thanks to his rally widget. From Gen 2 onward, your Infantry hero will usually be Jeronimo or Natalia, since they’re the only ones with rally widgets. Even though you're sending fewer Infantry troops, the widget still enhances overall damage—especially for Marksmen.
Alternative Gen 2 Rally:
Heroes: Natalia, Molly, Alonso or Bahiti
Troop Formation: 2 Infantry / 3 Lancer / 5 Marksman
Strategy: Use Natalia if Jeronimo isn’t maxed in stars and widget level. This setup also allows you to reserve Jero for joining other rallies.
F2P Gen 2 Rally:
Heroes: Flint, Molly, Bahiti
Troop Formation: 3 Infantry / 3 Lancer / 4 Marksman
Strategy: With no free-to-play rally widget hero available yet, stick to your best three heroes. Balanced formation with a slight Marksman bias still works best, since SR Marksman heroes usually have lower base stats.
Generation 3 (Gen 3) Bear Trap Setup
Primary Rally Team:
Heroes: Natalia, Mia, Alonso
Troop Formation: 1 Infantry / 2 Lancer / 7 Marksman
Strategy: Natalia outperforms Jeronimo in Gen 3 due to her widget setup. Two Lethality and one Attack widget deliver better results than Jeronimo’s one Lethality and two Attack. Focus on maximizing Marksman troops to take advantage of Mia’s boosts.
Alternative Gen 3 Rally:
Heroes: Jeronimo, Mia, Alonso
Troop Formation: 2 Infantry / 3 Lancer / 5 Marksman
Strategy: If Natalia isn’t fully starred or widget-maxed, Jeronimo is the better rally lead. This setup maintains a strong balance while still benefiting from Mia’s Marksman synergy.
F2P Gen 3 Rally:
Heroes: Flint, Mia, Bahiti
Troop Formation: 2 Infantry / 4 Lancer / 4 Marksman
Strategy: Gen 3 is a turning point for F2P players—you get your first rally widget hero. This is a great time to experiment. Use an even split between Lancer and Marksman troops. Mia boosts Marksman effectiveness significantly, though Marksmen may still have the lowest stats due to being SR. If you’ve unlocked FC3 Lancers, their enhanced skill scales well with Mia’s buffs.
Generation 4 (Gen 4) Bear Trap Setup
Primary Rally Team:
Heroes: Jeronimo, Reina, Alonso
Troop Formation: 1 Infantry / 3 Lancer / 6 Marksman
Strategy: This setup leverages two Lethality and one Attack widget. With Reina’s 3rd skill in play, 30% Lancer troop composition synergizes well—especially if they are FC5, where their enhanced skill adds significant damage potential.
Alternative Gen 4 Rally:
Heroes: Natalia or Jeronimo, Mia, Lynn
Troop Formation: 1 Infantry / 1 Lancer / 8 Marksman
Strategy: Choose Natalia over Jeronimo if her stars and widgets are better. This formation is focused heavily on Marksman troops. If your Marksmen are FC5, you’ll gain the most value—especially when Lynn’s 3rd skill activates successfully.
F2P Gen 4 Rally:
Heroes: Flint, Mia, Lynn
Troop Formation: 1 Infantry / 1 Lancer / 8 Marksman
Strategy: As with the alternative rally, Lynn’s 3rd skill rewards a Marksman-heavy approach. This is the best setup for F2P players to focus firepower and maximize rally effectiveness, particularly when paired with FC5 Marksman troops.
Generation 5 (Gen 5) Bear Trap Setup
Primary Rally Team:
Heroes: Jeronimo, Reina, Gwen
Troop Formation: 1 Infantry / 3 Lancer / 6 Marksman
Strategy: Gen 5 marks the end of Alonso’s reign—Gwen replaces him with identical rally widgets but superior stats and hero skills. This setup thrives with a Marksman-heavy formation, capitalizing on Gwen’s raw power and synergy with Reina.
Alternative Gen 5 Rally:
Heroes: Hector, Mia, Gwen
Troop Formation: 1 Infantry / 1 Lancer / 8 Marksman
Strategy: Despite being a defender-type, Hector boasts two damage skills that directly enhance Marksman troop performance. This setup shines when you go all-in on Marksmen, making the most of Gwen and Mia’s support.
F2P Gen 5 Rally:
Heroes: Hector, Mia, Lynn
Troop Formation: 1 Infantry / 1 Lancer / 8 Marksman
Strategy: Hector becomes the new go-to F2P rally lead, fully replacing Flint—even in Bear Traps. His second skill allows Infantry heroes to contribute to damage, enabling a Marksman-heavy formation. Mia's skills remain effective regardless of Lancer troop count, so there's no need to prioritize Lancers.
Generation 6 (Gen 6) Bear Trap Setup
Primary Rally Team:
Heroes: Jeronimo, Reina, Wayne
Troop Formation: 1 Infantry / 3 Lancer / 6 Marksman
Strategy: Wayne may lack a rally widget, but his “Critical Rate” skill makes him the top-performing Marksman hero in Gen 6. He outpaces all widget-bearing Marksman heroes in overall effectiveness. This build maintains a strong Lancer presence for Reina’s skills while maximizing Marksman damage output.
Alternative Gen 6 Rally:
Heroes: Jeronimo, Mia, Wayne
Troop Formation: 1 Infantry / 1 Lancer / 8 Marksman
Strategy: Pairing Wayne with Mia can result in extremely high damage output—especially with some luck. While this setup may not deliver consistent results like Reina’s combo, its ceiling is high. Mia’s skills remain unaffected by the number of Lancers, allowing you to stack Marksman troops without penalty.
F2P Gen 6 Rally:
Heroes: Hector, Renee, Lynn
Troop Formation: 1 Infantry / 2 Lancer / 7 Marksman
Strategy: Renee requires at least 20% Lancer troops in your formation to trigger her damage buffs. Lynn and Hector continue to support a Marksman-heavy formation, but this time Lancers play a more strategic role due to Renee’s skillset.
Generation 7 (Gen 7) Bear Trap Setup
Primary Rally Team:
Heroes: Jeronimo, Mia, Bradley
Troop Formation: 1 Infantry / 1 Lancer / 8 Marksman
Strategy: Bradley provides the highest Marksman stats of any hero to date—outperforming Gen 1 Jeronimo (260%) and Gen 3 Mia (290%). When paired with Jero and Mia, both of whom boost Marksman attack, this formation delivers maximum damage potential. Mia remains the only rally-capable Lancer hero whose skills activate regardless of Lancer troop count, making her ideal for Marksman-heavy comps.
Alternative Gen 7 Rally:
Heroes: Jeronimo, Reina, Wayne
Troop Formation: 1 Infantry / 3 Lancer / 6 Marksman
Strategy: This alternative lets you free up Bradley and Mia to join other rallies. While not as consistent as the main comp, this lineup still performs well and offers flexibility when coordinating with alliance members.
F2P Gen 7 Rally:
Heroes: Hector, Mia, Bradley
Troop Formation: 1 Infantry / 1 Lancer / 8 Marksman
Strategy: One of the best F2P rally setups for damage. Bradley offers top-tier Marksman stats, while Hector and Mia both have skills that enhance Marksman troop damage. The 1/1/8 formation optimizes troop effectiveness and leverages Mia’s universal Lancer skill compatibility.
Generation 8 (Gen 8) Bear Trap Setup
Primary Rally Team:
Heroes: Jeronimo, Mia, Bradley
Troop Formation: 1 Infantry / 1 Lancer / 8 Marksman
Strategy: Despite being newer, Sonya and Hendrik aren’t optimal for rally leads in Bear Trap. Sonya’s skills are Lancer-specific, and Hendrik focuses on defense rather than damage. Mia and Bradley remain the superior choice for maximizing rally DPS.
Alternative Gen 8 Rally:
Heroes: Jeronimo, Sonya, Bradley
Troop Formation: 1 Infantry / 3 Lancer / 6 Marksman
Strategy: If your Mia isn’t fully starred or upgraded, Sonya is a usable substitute—but only if you include at least 30% Lancer troops to trigger her skill effects. This setup offers good output but doesn’t surpass the main comp.
F2P Gen 8 Rally:
Heroes: Hector, Mia, Bradley
Troop Formation: 1 Infantry / 1 Lancer / 8 Marksman
Strategy: Hector continues to outperform newer Gen 8 heroes for rally leads. Combined with Mia and Bradley, this setup remains the strongest F2P option for sustained Bear Trap damage, especially when prioritizing Marksmen.
Generation 7 (Gen 7) Bear Trap Setup
Primary Rally Team:
Heroes: Jeronimo, Mia, Bradley
Troop Formation: 1 Infantry / 1 Lancer / 8 Marksman
Strategy: Bradley offers the highest Marksman stats among current heroes, surpassing Gen 1 Jeronimo (260%) and Gen 3 Mia (290%). Pairing him with Jeronimo and Mia—both of whom boost Marksman attack—maximizes troop damage. Mia remains the only rally-capable Lancer hero whose skills are fully effective regardless of how many Lancer troops you send, making this a top-tier comp for Bear Trap.
Alternate Gen 7 Rally:
Heroes: Jeronimo, Reina, Wayne
Troop Formation: 1 Infantry / 3 Lancer / 6 Marksman
Strategy: This setup allows you to save Bradley and Mia for joining other rallies. While slightly less consistent than the primary comp, it still delivers solid damage with strong hero synergy and utility.
F2P Gen 7 Rally:
Heroes: Hector, Mia, Bradley
Troop Formation: 1 Infantry / 1 Lancer / 8 Marksman
Strategy: One of the best F2P setups in the game. Bradley brings top-tier Marksman stats, while Hector and Mia both boost Marksman damage through active skills. The 1/1/8 formation takes full advantage of their abilities, offering F2P players a reliable and powerful rally comp.
Generation 8 (Gen 8) Bear Trap Setup
Primary Rally Team:
Heroes: Jeronimo, Mia, Bradley
Troop Formation: 1 Infantry / 1 Lancer / 8 Marksman
Strategy: Despite the release of new heroes, Mia and Bradley remain the most effective support for a high-damage Bear Trap rally. Sonya’s skills only benefit Lancers, and Hendrik’s defensive toolkit makes him unsuitable for leading rallies. This Gen 7-based comp continues to dominate in Gen 8.
Alternative Gen 8 Rally:
Heroes: Jeronimo, Sonya, Bradley
Troop Formation: 1 Infantry / 3 Lancer / 6 Marksman
Strategy: If your Mia isn’t fully starred or widget-leveled, Sonya is a viable Lancer option—but only when you send at least 30% Lancer troops. While not as effective as the Mia comp, it can still deliver respectable damage.
F2P Gen 8 Rally:
Heroes: Hector, Mia, Bradley
Troop Formation: 1 Infantry / 1 Lancer / 8 Marksman
Strategy: Hector remains the superior F2P rally leader in Gen 8. Paired with Mia and Bradley, this comp continues to outperform newer hero combinations, offering consistent and high damage output with minimal investment.
Generation 9 (Gen 9) Bear Trap Setup
Primary Rally Team:
Heroes: Jeronimo, Mia, Bradley
Troop Formation: 1 Infantry / 1 Lancer / 8 Marksman
Strategy: Fred is not compatible with Bradley. Xura has skill with opponent decrease damage, which is not helpful for bear hunt because we are prioritizing damage.
Alternative Gen 9 Rally:
Heroes: Magnus, Mia, Bradley
Troop Formation: 1 Infantry / 1 Lancer / 8 Marksman
Strategy: It's almost the same as P2W Bear Hunt. If you don't have Jeronimo, you can use Magnus. Some believe Magnus does more damage than Hector. This is still up for debate.
F2P Gen 9 Rally:
Heroes: Hector, Mia, Bradley
Troop Formation: 1 Infantry / 1 Lancer / 8 Marksman
Strategy: In Gen 9 Fred is available, but the skill from Mia is better, and the widget is better when compared to Fred. Mia is more compatible instead of Fred.
Generation 10 (Gen 10) Bear Trap Setup
Primary Rally Team:
Heroes: Jeronimo, Mia, Blanchette
Troop Formation: 1 Infantry / 1 Lancer / 8 Marksman
Strategy: Blanchette is favorable as all her skills increase damage. Freya is skill are sub par and not recommended to use.
Alternative Gen 10 Rally:
Heroes: Gregory, Mia, Blanchette
Troop Formation: 1 Infantry / 1 Lancer / 8 Marksman
Strategy: It's almost the same as P2W Bear Hunt. If you don't have Jeronimo, you can use Gregory. Some believe Gregory does more damage than Magnus and Hector. Blanchette has much better stats compared to Bradley.
F2P Gen 10 Rally:
Heroes: Hector, Mia, Blanchette
Troop Formation: 1 Infantry / 1 Lancer / 8 Marksman
Strategy: Blanchette is introduced in the Lucky Wheel and her skill and damage are fantastic for Bear Hunt.
Generation 11 (Gen 11) Bear Trap Setup
Primary Rally Team:
Heroes: Jeronimo, Mia, Rufus
Troop Formation: 1 Infantry / 1 Lancer / 8 Marksman
Strategy: Rufus is amazing and skill increases damage every round from his 2nd skill. Lloyd has increased lethality but Mia is still the GOAT.
Alternative Gen 11 Rally:
Heroes: Gregory, Mia, Rufus
Troop Formation: 1 Infantry / 1 Lancer / 8 Marksman
Strategy: It's almost the same as P2W Bear Hunt. If you don't have Jeronimo, you can use Gregory. Some believe Gregory does more damage than Magnus and Hector. Rufus is better option even with a +0 widget with 5 star, his damage rules this generation.
F2P Gen 11 Rally:
Heroes: Hector, Mia, Blanchette
Troop Formation: 1 Infantry / 1 Lancer / 8 Marksman
Strategy: You get Eleonra, but her skills are mostly defensive. Rufus is the best choice but not considered F2P.
Generation 12 (Gen 12) Bear Trap Setup
updated July 2025.
Primary Rally Team:
Heroes: Jeronimo, Mia, Rufus
Troop Formation: 1 Infantry / 1 Lancer / 8 Marksman
Strategy: Karol is more compatible playing infantry and lancers for Sunfire Castle, not for Bear Hunt. Ligiea skills are nice but Rufus continues to be the GOAT.
Alternative Gen 12 Rally:
Heroes: Jeronimo, Mia, Ligeia
Troop Formation: 1 Infantry / 1 Lancer / 8 Marksman
Strategy: Jeronimo is still the best infantry hero during bear hunt. Rufus might be better than Ligeia but more testing required when fully upgraded.
F2P Gen 12 Rally:
Heroes: Hector, Mia, Blanchette
Troop Formation: 1 Infantry / 1 Lancer / 8 Marksman
Strategy: Karel is released, but Mia still rules the F2P Bear Hunt.
Gen 13 Updates: (Early testing phase)
C Tier
Gisela (Infantry): Increases Infantry Defense by 30%
Vulcanus (Marksman): Reduces Attack by 25%
Pending Testing
Flora (Lancer): 50% chance to increase damage taken by 50%
As we noted earlier, massive credit and props to King and Zilee.
