Whiteout Survival Best Troop Formation & Troop Ratio
Understanding the best troop formation and troop ratio in Whiteout Survival is crucial to your success in this game. The troop formation you use will be different based on the activity you are doing. Consult with your R5/R4s to understand what the plan of attack will be and which ratios to use. Please note, picking the best troop formation isn't the only factor to keep in mind. You need the right hero, gear, and buffs too!
Troop Ratio in Whiteout Survival
50/20/30 - you might see a sequence of numbers like this. This means the percentage of each troop that is suggested. In this example, this is 50% infantry, 20% lancers, and 30% marksmen.
How do we pick what percentage to use?
infanty > lancer > marksman > infantry
This means infantry beats lancer, lancer beats marksman, and marksman beats infantry. Sounds like a classic rock-paper-scissors scenario. Except, we can have all 3 in a match! The simple logic is, you want to have a meat shield, shield wall, or a line of infantry to defend against the attack and take the damage. You want to use the marksman to deliver the most damage, but they have very little health. This is why the infantry is important.
How do you know when to change the ratio on your troop formation?
Look at the battle report to see if your infantry line has died or maybe you have too much infantry. Then increase or decrease the infantry and marskmen troops based on the battle report.
It's also important to know the order on which troops fight. Infantry fights first, then lancers, followed by marksmen. This is why you will see a troop formation or ratio like 90/10/0. This will be good for Crazy Joe, where the enemy dies fast and the back row never gets a turn to fight.
Best Troop Formations to use in Whiteout Survival
Here is the cheat sheet that we use in our alliance.
The Labyrinth - 60/15/25
Alliance Championship - 45/25/35
Crazy Joe - 90/10/0
Bear Hunt - 0/10/90
Castle Battle - 50/20/30 (varies based on strategy)
Default Formation - 50/20/30 (when in doubt, start with this)
Save the Best Troop Formation & Troop Ratio
Now that you understand what the best troop formation and troop ratio is, there are presets that you can save to make your life easier.
In the game, click your profile picture -> Troops -> Squads
Here, pick the right Hero based on what scenario you need, then tap Balance at the bottom
Set the best troop formation (50/20/30)
Tap Save and then choose which Formation to use. I like to put an O or D behind the number to help me remember if this is for Offense Joiner or Defense. Lastly, tap Save.
Unlocking Squads or Troops Formations
Your first Squad / Formation unlocks at Furnace Level 10. This is a big deal and will use this daily for the rest of the game. You can have up to 8 formations. They can be unlocked in any order. Here are the requirements:
Squad 1 - Reach Furnace Level 10
Squad 2 - Reach Furnace Level 15
Squad 3 - Reach Furnace Level 20
Squad 4 - Reach Furnace Level 23
Squad 5 - Reach Furnace Level 26
Squad 6 - Reach Furnace Level 30
Squad 7 - Activate VIP 5*
Squad 8 - Activate VIP 8*
